Washington DC: is a typical capital city - full of history. Founded in 1791, George Washington himself chose this area to be the world's first-ever planned capital city. Home to the Government of the United States, there are many governmental buildings and monuments to see here. Visitors will, though, find more than just politics here. There are an abundance of multi-cultural restaurants, parks, gardens, museums, lodgings, accommodation and theaters and plenty of historical sites to experience in Washington DC, and the Metro railway system makes it relatively easy to get around. The star attraction here though is the White House - home to the US presidents over the years.
